Pakistan Kissan Rabita Committee (PKRC) & Anjuman Mazareen Punjab (AMP) Convention

Peasants Rise in Bhakkar: No to Corporate Farming, Yes to Peasant Rights & popular agrarian reforms! Kalorkot, District Bhakkar – Today, on 4th May 2025, a powerful and spirited convention of landless peasants took place at the Rakh Ghulam Peasants Farm, organized jointly by Pakistan Kissan Rabita Committee (PKRC), Anjuman Mazareen Punjab (AMP), and Haqooq-e-Khalq Party (HKP). The gathering brought together hundreds of peasants, including women and youth from Rakh Ghulam, across Bhakkar district, and other parts of Punjab. The event was marked by strong participation from progressive political parties including the Pakistan Mazdoor Kissan Party, labour and trade union allies such as the All Pakistan Trade Union Federation, and several other grassroots and social movements. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Junior from Karachi also joined the jalsa, extending solidarity to the struggle of the landless. A United resistance Against Land Grabbing & Displacement This convention was not just a gathering—it's a collective resistance & struggle against the violent dispossession of peasants, the increasing militarization of agriculture, and the rising grip of corporate control over our land, seeds, and food systems. The participants strongly rejected the ongoing evictions of small farmers in the name of the Green Pakistan Initiative, military-backed agribusiness ventures, and the operations of companies such as Fongrow under the facilitation of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). These projects are pushing peasants off their ancestral lands, depriving them of livelihoods and dignity. Our Land, Our Seeds, Our Future Peasants and landless farmers demand: * An immediate end to corporate farming and state-facilitated land grabs. * Full recognition and protection of peasants’ right to land, water, seeds, forests, and all natural resources. * Genuine land reforms that prioritize redistribution to landless peasants, not to corporate or military interests. * Food sovereignty and popular agrarian reform rooted in agroecology, dignity, and autonomy. * Rejection of the monopoly of agribusinesses and military enterprises over agriculture. * A peasant-led transformation of the food system—built on justice, sustainability, and self-governance. - Fair prices & legal implementation of Minimum Support Price of all crops - End IMF & WTO dictated neoliberal & open market economic policies, strict market regulation & public procurement & stockholding systems Peasant Resistance is Growing The struggle of the landless in Bhakkar, Okara, Khanewal, and across Punjab is a living example of resistance against dispossession and exploitation. The peasants are not just fighting for land—they are fighting for a vision of life where food, nature, and community are not commodified but cared for and shared. Pakistan’s future lies not in the hands of corporate investors or military profiteers—but in the soil-tilling hands of its peasants.
