Our mission is to champion a just and sustainable future by: - Advocating for equitable land reform and rights - Combating climate change through fossil fuel reduction and renewable energy solutions - Promoting food sovereignty and sustainable agriculture practices - Empowering communities to reclaim their rights to land, water, and resources We strive to build a world where the interests of people and the planet come before profits, and where a healthy and thriving environment is a reality for all.
Our vision is a world where: - Land is equitably distributed and accessible to all, free from exploitation and oppression - Climate justice is a reality, with thriving ecosystems and communities resilient to the impacts of climate change - Fossil fuels are a relic of the past, replaced by renewable energy sources that power a just and sustainable future - Food sovereignty is a fundamental right, with communities controlling their own food systems and enjoying healthy, culturally appropriate, and sustainably produced food We envision a future where people and the planet flourish together, where justice, equity, and sustainability are the foundation of our relationship with the land, the climate, and each other
The Pakistan Kissan Rabita Committee (PKRC) was formed in 2003 at a conference with over 5,000 small farmers and peasants in Chishtian, a Southern city in Punjab, to unite the forces among peasants in Pakistan. The decision to form a national organization of the peasantry was taken after the very successful campaign of peasantry for land rights at Military Farms Okara in 2000-2001. It was felt that a campaign in one district or two cannot be successful in the long term. The land rights and food sovereignty campaigns have spread across Pakistan through peasants movements. Okara Military Farms were more than 17,000-acre military-controlled farms in Punjab’s Okara District, which were being cultivated by farmers for over a century. The PKRC has emerged as the largest small farmers platform in Pakistan. It has organised numerous activities for land rights and for the introduction of the food sovereignty concept. PKRC is also countering displacement issues of small farmers in the name of so-called development and mega-projects. PKRC has tried its level best to fill the vacuum among peasantry who are looking for a national progressive platform and movement that can take up their issues like land rights, food sovereignty and Peasant rights. In the course of almost two decades, PKRC has organized major peasant conferences, mass meetings, seminars, workshops, study circles and other public activities mainly to promote land rights, food sovereignty and climate Justice in Pakistan.
